On Saturday 12th November West Sussex Fire and Rescue used the Cornerstone site tower crane to carry out a rescue exercise.
As part of the exercise two full crews turned up and the Fire Brigades Hi-Reach altitude team. The exercise was simulated to lower the tower crane driver down from the cab down to the ground. The driver was pulled up from the cab onto the crane Jib and lowered down with harnesses and ropes.
In a thank you note to Kier, Simon Constable, Watch Commander ‘A’ Watch West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service Eastern Group Operations said: “I would like to say a big thank you for the use of your site and tower crane on Saturday for our rescue exercise.”
“Can I ask that you pass on my thanks to all your staff for sacrificing a Saturday afternoon (especially as it was dark, wet and windy) to take part.
“As I have mentioned before, we do not get the opportunity to do such training and from the feedback I have received so realistic definitely benefited from it.”
